Energia pura: maestro, músicos, coral, solista, e público.

A solista, nascida em 1933, passou parte da infância como colhedora de algodão, nas grandes fazendas dos estados situados no Delta do Mississipi.

Quando da gravação deste álbum, em 1996, estava com 63 anos.

Não "viveu de música", mas de seu trabalho como operadora (agora aposentada) da  South Central Bell Telephone Co.

Atualmente,  aos 81 anos, continua sendo "a face" do MMC e a sua voz mais proeminente.
